Ernest Nuamah: new concern for the Ghanaian at OL?

Ernest Nuamah is once again facing a worrying situation. The Ghanaian winger of Olympique Lyonnais was forced to leave the field during the match against Lille this Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Ligue 1 of France.

Starting against Lille, Ernest Nuamah was expected to be one of the offensive weapons of an Olympique Lyonnais team seeking a spot in the UEFA Champions League. Unfortunately, the 21-year-old Ghanaian had to leave the field after feeling pain in his left knee in the 7th minute of play. This early exit did not prevent OL from winning 2-1 against Lille, but it reignited concerns about the player's physical condition.

End of the season for Ernest Nuamah?

The arrival of Paulo Fonseca at the helm of OL in February 2025 marked a turning point for Nuamah. The Portuguese coach placed his trust in him. The former FC Nordsjaelland player started in his first three matches. Nuamah delivered, especially during the victory against Montpellier on February 16, 2025, where he scored a goal and provided an assist. After the match, he stated, “I feel good, my teammates give me confidence on the field. Everything is going very well, I have even more confidence in myself.”

His early exit against Lille is a real shock for the player himself, who believed he was finally back on track and ready to help his team until the end of the season. He currently counts 23 matches and one goal in Ligue 1, not to mention 3 goals in the Europa League. Medical examinations are underway to determine the severity of the injury. OL's medical staff fears an ACL tear, which would mean the end of the season for Ernest Nuamah.

“The whole team is thinking of him, come back to us quickly,” Rayan Cherki

Rayan Cherki stepped in against Lille when Ernest Nuamah had to leave. At the end of the match, the French forward sent a very emotional message to his Ghanaian teammate. “A little message for Ernest Nuamah. The whole team is thinking of him, we need him. Get well soon and come back to us quickly. May God be with you,” said Cherki.
