European Big 5: These seven teams that have made a perfect start to the season

With the return of the European leagues, seven teams have managed to win all of their matches played in their respective championships to date.

A promising start to the season for these teams, in contrast to other heavyweights that have already suffered one or more setbacks, such as Real Madrid in Spain, Paris Saint-Germain in France, Bayern Munich in Germany, Juventus and AC Milan in Italy, as well as Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United in England.

Arsenal

The reigning champions, the Gunners have shown that they are not ready to give up their Premier League title.

They have won all four of their matches against Coventry City (3-0), Aston Villa (1-0), Chelsea (1-2) and Sunderland (0-2) to sit top of the table level on points with the Citizens.

And that is not all: Mikel Arteta's men also beat Napoli (0-1) in the UEFA Champions League and Ipswich Town (2-4) in the third round of the League Cup, in addition to winning the Community Shield against Manchester City (3-0) at the start of the season.

Manchester City

Since their defeat in the Community Shield final, Enzo Maresca's men have put together five consecutive wins, including four in the league (as well as a 0-2 victory over Porto in the Champions League).

Erling Haaland's teammates beat Bournemouth (2-1), Crystal Palace (1-4), Coventry City (1-0) and, more recently, Manchester United in the derby (0-1) to claim 12 points from a possible 12 in the league.

FC Barcelona

After beating Racing Santander (7-2), FC Barcelona confirmed their current fine form with their sixth win in as many La Liga matches.

Having beaten Elche (0-5), Bilbao (2-0), Rayo Vallecano (5-2), Valencia (0-5), Levante (2-4) and Santander (7-2), the Blaugrana have scored 28 goals in six rounds and hold a three-point lead over Real Madrid at the top of the table.

Hansi Flick's men also made a successful start to their Champions League campaign by thrashing Feyenoord Rotterdam (1-5).

Inter Milan

Inter Milan are flying in Serie A, with four wins in as many matches. The reigning Italian champions beat Monza (4-1), Cagliari (0-1) and Napoli (3-2), before coming from behind to beat Udinese (5-3) after trailing 2-0.

The Nerazzurri did, however, lose to Real Madrid in the Champions League by a score of two goals to one.

AS Roma

La Lupa are keeping pace with Inter Milan, with four wins in four matches. Inspired by an excellent Danny Malen alongside Paulo Dybala, the Italian capital club beat Fiorentina (4-0), Lecce (0-4), Atalanta Bergamo (2-1) and Torino (0-2).

BVB Dortmund

Three matches, three wins for the Black and Yellows in the Bundesliga against Hamburg (2-0), Hoffenheim (2-3) and Paderborn 07 (3-0). Borussia Dortmund also eliminated HEBC Hamburg in the German Cup (0-5) and beat Villarreal (3-2) in the Champions League.

Freiburg

Freiburg have also made a remarkable start to the season, with three wins in three matches against Werder Bremen (4-1), Paderborn 07 (0-1) and Borussia Mönchengladbach (5-0).

They also qualified for the Conference League by beating Motherwell in the play-offs (3-1, 4-1) and reached the second round of the German Cup by eliminating Düsseldorf (1-5).*
