European competitions: A historic eight out of eight for the Premier League
The Premier League achieved a perfect record on the European stage, with eight wins in eight matches played by its representatives across the three continental competitions.
English clubs go five for five in the Champions League
In the Champions League, the English clubs recorded five wins in as many matches: Aston Villa got things underway with a victory over Bruges in Belgium (2-3).
Manchester City defeated FC Porto (2-0), Liverpool beat Atlético de Madrid (2-1), while Arsenal got the better of Napoli in Italy (0-1).
Even Manchester United, who have struggled in the league at the start of the season, comfortably defeated newcomers Sabah (4-0), confirming the supremacy of English clubs on the European stage.

English clubs only know how to win in the Europa League
In the Europa League, the three English representatives involved also claimed all three points. Sunderland got the better of AZ Alkmaar (1-0), while Bournemouth produced an impressive performance by winning away at Real Sociedad (2-1). Finally, Crystal Palace made no concessions against Lech Poznan (4-0).
The Premier League’s ninth representative, Brighton, have not yet entered the Conference League. The Seagulls will face Lithuanian side FK Kauno Žalgiris on October 15.
