Having joined Bournemouth at the start of the year, Antoine Semenyo quickly established himself in Manchester City's system. The 26-year-old striker already has two goals and three assists in seven appearances this season.

Semenyo ready to replace Haaland

Manchester City did not sign a genuine backup for Erling Haaland during the last transfer window. Manager Enzo Maresca had therefore raised the possibility of using Semenyo as a centre-forward if needed. The player himself is not ruling out that option.

I’ve heard about the idea that I could be a solution in that position. I don’t know where that came from. But yes, if I’m needed there, I’ll do it. It’s no problem for me.

The Ghana international nevertheless points out that he feels more comfortable on the right wing, where he has already found his feet this season.

A role that suits him on the wing

Antoine Semenyo particularly appreciates the width provided by City's system and the one-on-one situations he can create.

I like it. We play with a lot of width and we have a lot of one-on-one situations.

Manchester City have won their first five league matches and sit top of the Premier League. Erling Haaland has already scored five goals and remains the team's main attacking reference point. Semenyo could nevertheless be called upon to replace him occasionally if the situation requires it. City's next fixture is scheduled for 11 October, with an away trip to Liverpool.
