Antoine Semenyo scored twice in Manchester City’s spectacular 5-3 win over Sunderland on Sunday. He now has two goals and two assists in the Premier League this season.

Antoine Semenyo had to wait until the fifth matchday of the Premier League to open his account. Starting against Sunderland, the Ghanaian found the back of the net twice, in the 43rd and 57th minutes, directly contributing to Manchester City’s success at the Etihad Stadium.

After four matchdays, Semenyo already had two assists, provided against Crystal Palace and Coventry. His brace therefore takes his tally to 2 goals and 2 assists in the league this season.

Second-highest Ghanaian goalscorer in history

This performance also carries particular significance in the statistics of Ghanaian players in the Premier League. With these two additional goals, Semenyo has reached 39 goals in the competition and retains second place in the all-time ranking of Ghanaian scorers.

He is now closing in on Jordan Ayew, who has 42 Premier League goals. Semenyo is therefore just three goals behind his compatriot.

Behind the two forwards are, notably, Tony Yeboah (24 goals), Jeffrey Schlupp (22) and André Ayew (21).

Semenyo’s rise in this ranking accelerated during the 2025-2026 season. The forward scored 17 Premier League goals for Bournemouth and Manchester City, taking his total to 37 goals before the start of the current campaign.

With his brace against Sunderland, the Manchester City player has therefore moved to 39 Premier League goals. He will need three more goals to draw level with Jordan Ayew at the top of the ranking of Ghanaian goalscorers in the history of the competition.
