FC Barcelona: Raphinha and Adeyemi bring down Elche (0-2)
Kicking off their 2026-2027 La Liga campaign, FC Barcelona wasted no time imposing their trademark gegenpressing and high defensive line on Elche's turf. The reigning two-time Spanish champions stayed true to the tactical philosophy of their manager, Hansi Flick.

The Blaugrana earned a penalty in the 13th minute thanks to Raphinha. Breaking in from the left, the Brazilian winger surged into the box before being brought down by Víctor Chust, who was late with his challenge. The Catalan captain stepped up and coolly sent Matías Dituro the wrong way to open his account for the season.
Adeyemi strikes immediately after the break
Barça wasted no time after the second-half restart to extend their lead. In the 48th minute, Raphinha perfectly read Karim Adeyemi's run and released him with a pinpoint through ball. The German striker coolly won his one-on-one and slotted home Barcelona's second, giving his side a comfortable cushion.
It wasn't a flawless night for Barcelona, though. Suffering a physical setback, Gavi was forced off in the 45th minute and had to make way for Pedri, who started the game on the bench. After a pre-season marked by several key decisions from Flick, the Catalan club will now need to manage their lead and keep a close eye on the condition of their Spanish midfielder.
