FIFA Issues Key Ruling Before Egypt’s Crucial Clash With Burkina Faso
The Egyptian Football Association EFA confirmed on Monday that FIFA approved the Pharaohs choice of kit for Tuesday’s crunch World ؤup qualifier against Burkina Faso ending heated dispute that erupted during the pre match technical meeting.
How the row started
According to EFA officials, the controversy began when Burkina Faso requested their goalkeeper wear black shorts and socks .. a color already registered as part of Egypt’s kit.
Egypt’s alternative option (white) also clashed with the hosts chosen all white outfield strip leaving standoff over acceptable colors.
FIFA’s intervention
In official statement, the EFA said:
"FIFA's confirmed the validity of the Egyptian national team’s position regarding its kit selection for the match against Burkina Faso"
The governing body issued letter to the match commissioner affirming Egypt’s compliance with the approved color scheme for both home & away kits.
Match attire confirmed
- Egypt: red shirts - black shorts
- Burkina Faso: all white
The EFA stressed that Burkina Faso must adjust their goalkeeper’s kit to avoid conflict.
High stakes in Ouagadougou
Egypt sit top of Group A with 19 point, 5 clear of Burkina Faso. A victory would secure early qualification for the 2026 World cup while any other result would delay the Pharaohs celebrations to the final 2 round.
