Pushed back for much of the opening half, the Algerian team gradually found its footing against the Netherlands. Growing in confidence before the break, Vladimir Petkovic's men even finished the half by carving out the best chances.

The first half between the Netherlands and Algeria ended goalless (0-0) after 45 intensely contested minutes, during which Vladimir Petkovic’s squad showed two very different sides. Under pressure for much of the opening 25 minutes, the Greens suffered against a Dutch team that pressed relentlessly and dominated possession.

The Oranje even thought they had broken the deadlock, but their goal was eventually ruled out for offside. Capitalizing on several Algerian turnovers, the home side also created a handful of dangerous situations, but Luca Zidane remained alert between the sticks, well supported by a defense that stood strong in the trickiest moments.

But after that tough start, Algeria gradually lifted their heads. Nabil Bentaleb first stood out with a dangerous volley following a corner kick. Then, just before halftime, the Greens nearly struck on a lightning counter-attack: brilliantly set up by Riyad Mahrez with a dazzling nutmeg pass through Virgil van Dijk’s legs, Mohamed-Amine Amoura came close to catching the Dutch defense off guard. Everything is still to play for in this match as we head into what promises to be a thrilling second half.
