Algeria joins Egypt and Morocco
By defeating the Netherlands in Rotterdam (1-0), Algeria not only pulled off a sporting feat. The Fennecs have also joined an extremely exclusive circle of African teams that have managed to topple the Oranje.
The Algerian national team made history on Wednesday night by claiming a 1-0 victory on Dutch soil in Rotterdam, as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup. Thanks to a late goal from Anis Hadj Moussa, the Fennecs brought down the Oranje at home for the first time since 2023.

Beyond the result, this victory allows Vladimir Petkovic's men to carve their names into the annals of African football. Algeria becomes only the third team from the continent to achieve the feat of beating the Netherlands.
Before the Fennecs, only two African nations had managed such a performance: Egypt, who won 2-1 on June 14, 1928, and Morocco, who triumphed by the same score on April 28, 1999. Algeria's success in Rotterdam now joins this very select list and confirms the Fennecs' growing ambitions just days before the start of the 2026 World Cup.
