A Long-Awaited return

Moroccan manager Hussein Ammouta has officially included the dynamic midfielder in his squad for the Matchweek 4 clash in the Egyptian Premier League.

Ashour has not featured for the Red Devils since their domestic encounter against Al Masry on 20 May, near the conclusion of the 2025 /26 season.

His last competitive appearance came on the international stage, representing the Egypt national team against Argentina in the World Cup Round of 16 on 7 July.

His availability provides a significant tactical boost for the Cairo giants as they navigate the early stages of the new campaign.

Taher excluded for technical reasons

While Ashour makes his highly anticipated return, winger Taher Mohamed Taher has been left out of the squad list.

Al Ahly Director of Football Wael Gomaa clarified in statements to the Egyptian media that the player's omission was based entirely on technical decisions made by Ammouta.

The exclusion marks a shift in Ammouta's recent selections, given that Taher participated in the first three league matches of the season and successfully found the back of the net in the 2-0 victory over ZED FC in Matchweek 2.

Ashour’s return comes at an ideal time as Al Ahly aim to extend their flawless domestic run.

The defending champions have yet to drop a single point this season, securing three consecutive victories against ENPPI (3-2), ZED FC (2-0) and Smouha (1-0).

Against Al Mokawloon Al Arab, Ammouta will have the opportunity to gradually integrate Ashour back into the midfield, either from the start or off the bench as the team looks to maintain its perfect winning streak and solidify its position at the top of the league standings.
