Friendly: Defeat against Algeria sparks Van Dijk's fury
The Netherlands captain, Virgil Van Dijk, vented his frustration following the defeat to Algeria in yesterday’s friendly in Rotterdam on Wednesday night.
Speaking to NOS, the Liverpool centre-back did not hold back his disappointment. Virgil Van Dijk directly targeted his side's lack of clinical finishing up front.
"There’s no doubt I’ll be boarding the plane tomorrow with a hefty dose of frustration. This isn’t what you want for a farewell match in front of your home fans. In the first half, we had some good chances and we should have put them away. I hope that clinical edge comes back quickly. We saw two completely different halves." he admitted.
He added: "But we don’t play to lose. In the first half, we had to punish them. It’s clear we need to do much better."
