Ibrahima Konaté has been forced to leave the France squad. The Real Madrid defender injured his knee during the latest training session and has been replaced by Leny Yoro, who was called up from the France Under-21s.

Konaté suffers a knee sprain

The French Football Federation has announced that Ibrahima Konaté will miss the upcoming international fixtures. The 27-year-old defender felt pain in his knee during the latest training session. As a precaution, he underwent an MRI scan to assess the nature of his injury.

The examinations revealed a knee sprain. Konaté has therefore been released by the France staff and will now continue his treatment under the supervision of the Real Madrid medical staff.

Leny Yoro called up as reinforcements

To replace the Madrid defender, Leny Yoro was called up by Zinédine Zidane. Initially selected for the France Under-21s, the Manchester United defender will therefore join the senior squad for this international window. This is the third change made to the French squad because of fitness issues.

France will face Türkiye, Belgium and Italy during this international window. Les Bleus will begin with a match against Türkiye on Friday evening, Zinédine Zidane’s first game in charge of the national team in the Nations League.
