France or DR Congo, Warren Bondo Has Decided!
Courted by the Democratic Republic of Congo for several months, the young Franco-Congolese prodigy, Warren Bondo, has clarified his position and dashed the hopes of the Leopards.
At the end of last December, the DR Congo coach, Sébastien Desabre, even traveled to meet the 21-year-old midfielder, who was on the rise with Monza before his winter transfer to AC Milan.
In the same month, Desabre attended the match between Monza and Parma (2-1) and posed alongside the player, his father, and his uncle, who is also his agent. Seen here:
These images quickly reignited rumors of the Paris-born player's potential inclusion in the Congolese squad, especially since a trip to his parents' homeland a few months earlier had stirred enthusiasm among fans.
A Future with the Bleuets
Despite this interest, Bondo has put an end to the speculation in a recent interview with Foot Mercato. Trained at Nancy, where he became the club's youngest professional player, and having played for Reggina, the playmaker clearly aims for a spot in the French U21 team:
"It's a good step to go to the U21s, establish myself, and see where it takes me. Being in Milan offers me more visibility, but I need to play. The French U21 team is in the back of my mind."
So, can the DR Congo still hope? Time will tell…
