France team: Zinédine Zidane identifies an area for improvement
Set pieces are already an area of focus for Zinédine Zidane with the France team.
According to information from L’Équipe, Zinédine Zidane wants to help Les Bleus improve in this area. The task has been entrusted largely to his assistant David Bettoni, who is particularly committed to these phases of play. The manager acknowledges that his staff has not yet had enough time to work on this aspect since he took charge. “We’re working on it as a team with the staff, but it’s mainly my assistant, David Bettoni, who is taking charge of it because he is particularly committed to these phases of play. We haven’t yet had much time to work on our set pieces, but it is, of course, a very important aspect for me,” he said.
Zinédine Zidane had nevertheless made set pieces a genuine weapon with Los Blancos, relying in particular on Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo. But with France, Zizou must now adapt to different player profiles, and new solutions are already being worked on.
It must be said that against Italy, the France team sought to make greater use of the technical qualities of its attacking players, with several players positioned outside the box for corners. This thinking will now have to continue in order to make Les Bleus more effective in this area.
