Friendly match: Madagascar rolls over Kyrgyzstan
The Barea of Madagascar kicked off 2026 in style with a convincing victory over Kyrgyzstan, wrapping up a controlled match despite a slight lapse in the second half.
The Madagascar national team gave their opponents no chance right from the start. The Malagasy side came out aggressively, quickly setting the tempo and opening the scoring in just the 5th minute through Naina, perfectly played into space.
The Barea's dominance only grew as the minutes ticked by. In the 17th minute, Thomas Fontaine doubled the lead, and Warren Caddy increased the tally in the 24th minute. Just before the break, Clément Couturier capped off the attacking display with a fourth goal in the 42nd minute.
At halftime, Madagascar held a commanding 4-0 lead after a masterclass in clinical finishing and composure.
Kyrgyzstan react but can't turn the tide
After the break, Kyrgyzstan looked like a different team. Alma Albakov pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 58th minute, and Koch Kombayev added a second in the 72nd, briefly reviving the suspense (4-2).
But Madagascar quickly reasserted control. Warren Caddy netted his second of the night in the 79th minute, dashing any remaining hopes for the opposition and sealing a definitive Malagasy victory (5-2).
With this victory, Madagascar showcased their attacking prowess and launched their 2026 campaign in the best possible way. While there was a slight dip in intensity after halftime, the overall performance remains highly encouraging.
The Barea will have the opportunity to build on this momentum on March 31st against Equatorial Guinea.
