Sporting disappointment quickly turned into medical concern for Victor Osimhen. After Galatasaray’s 4-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League, the Nigerian striker left the pitch at halftime following a blow to his arm, prematurely ending his European night.

The diagnosis proved even more serious. In a statement, the Istanbul club detailed the situation:

“Our player Victor Osimhen, who received a blow to his arm during the first half of the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Liverpool away, was unable to return for the second half due to the risk of a fracture, following examinations carried out at halftime. After the match, a hospital examination under the supervision of our medical team confirmed a fracture of the right forearm, and a cast was applied.”

Galatasaray also specified that

“a decision regarding a possible surgical intervention will be made in the coming days after further examinations,”

leaving uncertainty over how long the striker will be sidelined.
