Galatasaray no longer counts on Ismail Jakobs, imminent split
Ismail Jakobs could leave the Istanbul club in the coming weeks, specifically at the end of the 2024/2025 campaign. According to several Turkish sources, Galatasaray is ready to let the Senegalese left-back go this summer.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations champion arrived in Istanbul in September 2024 on a loan deal from AS Monaco in France. Despite a promising start, Ismail Jakobs has not managed to secure a permanent place in Galatasaray's squad. His performances have been marred by recurring injuries, particularly to his knee and then Achilles tendon, which sidelined him from November 11 to December 21, 2024, and from January 26 to April 1, 2025, respectively.
The Senegalese defender has made 17 appearances this season with Galatasaray, including 13 in the Turkish Super Lig. His situation became complicated with the arrival of Eren Elmalı during the winter transfer window. The young Turkish full-back quickly became one of the starting defenders for the Istanbul club, pushing Jakobs to the sidelines.
Ismail Jakobs was loaned with a purchase obligation estimated at 10 million euros. Unfortunately, it seems this does not deter Galatasaray from wanting to part ways with the 25-year-old player. The club is already considering possible alternatives to finalize the split.
