Ghana: Mohammed Salisu ruled out of the World Cup

It's a huge blow for the Ghana national team. After suffering an anterior cruciate ligament tear in early January, Mohammed Salisu will miss the 2026 World Cup. The Black Stars' team doctor has confirmed the news.

The last hopes of Ghanaian fans faded with the latest statements from Dr. Prince Bampo. The national team doctor confirmed what everyone feared. "Mohammed will miss the World Cup. His knee will need nine months to recover," he said in an interview with Asempa FM.

To recap, the 26-year-old central defender suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in his left knee during the 1-3 defeat to Lyon in the 17th round of Ligue 1. After his season in the French league was cut short, the Ghanaian will also have to say goodbye to the 2026 World Cup.

Following successful surgery, the Black Stars defender is now undergoing a rehabilitation program to regain his fitness and return to competitive action.
