Ghana Premier League: FC Nsoatreman withdraws from the championship! (Official)
Thunderbolt in Ghanaian football! FC Nsoatreman has officially decided to withdraw from the Ghana Premier League for the 2024-2025 season. In a statement addressed to the Secretary General of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the club justified its decision due to concerns related to the safety of its players.
The situation for FC Nsoatreman became complicated after incidents during their match against Asante Kotoko on February 2, 2025. The encounter escalated into violent clashes between supporters, resulting in the death of a fan of the Porcupine Warriors.
Since then, the club and its supporters have been under scrutiny from parts of the public.
“We can no longer guarantee the safety of our players”
Amidst ongoing tension, the GFA had suspended the league before resuming it on March 8. But for FC Nsoatreman, the threats and hostility remain too overwhelming:
“We can no longer guarantee the safety of our players. Therefore, we have no choice but to withdraw,” stated the club's management.
In their letter to the GFA, FC Nsoatreman confirmed their withdrawal from all official competitions, also citing tensions during their matches against Samartex FC.
Currently sitting 14th with 21 points, just two points above the relegation zone, the club exits the scene amidst a climate of great uncertainty.
