Ghana: Young Senegalese goalkeeper Cheikh Touré found dead—what happened
Cheikh Touré

A devastating blow for Senegalese football. Young goalkeeper Cheikh Touré has been found dead in Ghana. The circumstances have now come to light.

The tragic news was confirmed this Sunday morning by Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs. Cheikh Touré, a promising talent developed at Esprit Foot Yeumbeul, was discovered dead in Ghana, reportedly under harrowing circumstances. According to information relayed by the Senegalese embassy in Accra, he fell victim to a network of fraudsters and extortionists.

Reports indicate that Cheikh Touré was lured by a group of ill-intentioned individuals who convinced him he had a shot at trials with a professional club. This fake opportunity ultimately turned into an abduction. The kidnappers subsequently demanded a ransom from his family, who were unable to raise the requested sum. When their demands weren’t met, they committed the unthinkable.

Nevertheless, the Ministry of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad has announced that an investigation, in collaboration with Ghanaian authorities, has been launched to shed light on the circumstances surrounding his death.
