Hatayspor: Vincent Aboubakar terminates his contract! (Official)
It’s official! Vincent Aboubakar will no longer wear the Hatayspor colors. The star striker of Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions has terminated his contract with the Turkish club, as confirmed by several local and international media outlets this Friday, May 9.
Arriving last summer after an early departure from Besiktas, Aboubakar embraced a new challenge: helping Hatayspor stay in the Süper Lig. Despite his best efforts—8 goals and 2 assists in 28 matches—the Antioch-based club could not avoid relegation, capping off a difficult season.
A future that could still be written in Turkey
Now a free agent, the 33-year-old striker does not plan to leave Turkey. According to multiple sources, Kocaelispor, newly promoted to the Süper Lig after winning the second division, is very interested in signing him. Discussions have reportedly been ongoing for several weeks.
If a deal is reached, Aboubakar would join his third Turkish club after Besiktas and Hatayspor, continuing a European career that began in France with Valenciennes and Lorient.
A smart move for a player eager to remain among the elite while bringing his experience to an ambitious team.
