How Barça plans to cope with Gavi's absence

A major blow for FC Barcelona: Gavi will be sidelined for much longer than initially expected. What was supposed to be a simple arthroscopy to treat his knee turned into a more serious operation, forcing the medical team to intervene more extensively and extending his recovery period to four or five months. The 21-year-old midfielder, a true symbol of Barcelona’s intensity and spirit, will therefore miss a large part of the season, with a return only expected between February and March.

The Catalan club, already weakened by a complicated financial situation, does not plan to sign a replacement. The management believes that the current squad, bolstered by the youth from La Masia, can fill the void left by the U21 European champion. This decision is as much a testament to their faith in the group as it is to the budget constraints hanging over Barça.

For Gavi, this latest injury is a harsh reminder: he already suffered an ACL tear in the 2023-2024 season. But the young midfielder has made sure to show his determination. From the hospital, surrounded by Pedri, Araujo, and Lamine Yamal, he shared a message of hope and resilience with his fans. His words echo like a mantra: "A true champion is built on the ability to get back up." In a pivotal season, his absence will be a challenge for both the team and himself, as he’ll once again have to come back even stronger.
