Ibrahimović reacts to Messi's sensational goal against Jordan
Former Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimović believes that, even at 39, Lionel Messi remains a player capable of deciding the biggest matches. The Argentinian legend proved it once again by leading his team to victory over Jordan in the third and final group stage match of the 2026 World Cup.
Once again, Messi lit up the contest with a stunning direct free kick, notching his sixth goal of the tournament and cementing his status as the Albiceleste's technical leader.
Ibrahimović admires Messi: "He gave the fans what they wanted"
Appearing on Fox Sports alongside former French international Thierry Henry, Zlatan Ibrahimović made no secret of his admiration for the Argentine captain's performance.
"“I think they really know that. This is his 6th goal. Probably he will score more than that and we enjoy him playing. I agree with Thierry. The goalie should have done better.," said the former Swedish striker.
However, Ibrahimović highlighted Messi's influence in these situations: "But if it's Messi, it's okay. You can make those mistakes even if you don't like it.
"
To conclude, the former AC Milan forward praised the impact of Argentina's number 10 on the crowd: "He came in, he gave the fans what they wanted, he scored a goal, the fans got value for their tickets and they can go home now...and keep singing his name.”
