On Wednesday, April 16, Standard Liège officially announced the permanent acquisition of Senegalese player Ilay Camara. Initially arriving on loan, he impressed the Belgian club, which has exercised the purchase option. The 22-year-old is now tied to the Rouches for the next four seasons.

“Standard Liège has decided to activate the purchase option included in Ilay CAMARA's loan contract, meaning he is now tied to our club until June 2029. The 22-year-old Belgian-Senegalese winger was on loan with the Rouches from RWDM since last summer,” wrote the Belgian club in its statement.

According to the CEO of Standard Liège, the Senegalese international has met the club's expectations during the 2024/2025 season. “His agility, technique, and penetration skills have made him an essential part of our squad and a Senegalese international. The decision to activate his purchase option was therefore an obvious one,” said Giacomo.
