The Senegal coach, Pape Thiaw, recently unveiled the list of players who will participate in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Among the squad are some new faces, including Ilya Camara.

At 22 years old, the young player is set to begin his international career with his country of origin's team. "It's a huge pride because it's the best nation in Africa. They are stars in the football world with Mané, Koulibaly, Gana Gueye, it's the top of the world," he expressed.

Ilya Camara chose Senegal because he believes his playing style is better suited to African football. "In Europe, it's more about set plays. In Africa, it's more direct, we go for it. I like the percussion, to provoke, to move forward. I think it suits me better than in Europe," he continued. The Standard Liège player in Belgium harbors big dreams with the Senegalese team, aiming to win the AFCON and the World Cup.
