Iran is retooling its tactical setup to contain Egypt's Mohamed Salah during a vital World Cup group finale this Saturday morning.

Tactical Gamble for Team Melli

According to the Iranian publication Hamshahri, head coach Amir Ghalenoei is drawing up a specific blueprint to shackle the iconic Egyptian winger.

In their previous outing, the Persian Stars deployed a rigid 5 man defensive line to neutralize Belgium’s star studded frontline. That ultra defensive approach earned them a hard fought scoreless draw but Ghalenoei reportedly refuses to use the same passive system against the Pharaohs.

Instead, the Iranian manager wants to take the game to Egypt and prevent them from dictating the tempo. Iran plans to revert to a traditional four back system unlocking more offensive fluidity to search for goals.

This tactical gamble leaves a massive responsibility on the shoulders of defender Ali Nemati. Nemati is expected to be handed the grueling assignment of man marking the explosive Liverpool star on the left side of the defense, hoping to cut off his signature inside runs.

High stakes in Group G

The environment will be electric ahead of this weekend's kickoff at 6:00 AM Cairo time. Egypt currently occupies the top spot in Group G with 4 points riding a wave of immense confidence after securing a historic 3-1 victory over New Zealand, the Pharaohs' first ever win in World Cup history.

Meanwhile Iran sits just behind them in second place with two point knowing that a victory would guarantee their progression to the knockout rounds.
