Italy: Bologna officially announces Domenico Tedesco as new head coach
Bologna has officially announced on Tuesday the appointment of Domenico Tedesco as the new head coach of its first team. The 40-year-old Italian tactician has signed a contract running until June 30, 2028, with an option for one additional year.
Born in Rossano, Calabria, on September 12, 1985, Tedesco quickly established himself as a respected coach on the European stage. He began his career in the youth academies of Stuttgart and then Hoffenheim, before taking charge at Erzgebirge Aue.
He then managed several top-flight clubs, including Schalke 04, Spartak Moscow, RB Leipzig, and most recently Fenerbahçe, as well as the Belgian national team. With Schalke, he finished as Bundesliga runner-up, while he led Leipzig to a fourth-place finish in the German championship.
Trophies and international experience
Throughout his career, Tedesco has lifted the DFL-Pokal with RB Leipzig in 2022 and claimed the Turkish Super Cup with Fenerbahçe in 2025. He has also gained experience in European competitions, guiding his teams in both the Champions League and Europa League.
Bologna is thus banking on the experience and discipline of the Italian coach to continue their rise in Serie A and on the European stage.
