Bad news for Ivory Coast. Elye Wahi will not feature against Germany on June 20 in the second round of the World Cup. The Ivorian Football Federation has confirmed his absence due to an administrative issue regarding entry into Canada.

In a statement released on June 17, 2026, the Ivorian Football Federation clarified: "The player will not be able to travel with the squad to Canada. It was not possible to obtain the necessary administrative permits."

As a result, Elye Wahi will remain in the United States. His absence is a significant setback for the Elephants, as he is considered one of coach Emerse Faé’s key players. The 23-year-old Nice striker has been a regular starter for Ivory Coast since joining the national team.
