José Mourinho heavily insulted by one of his former players
José Mourinho has never been known for maintaining harmonious relationships with all his players, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan stands as a striking example. In his autobiography, the Armenian international revisited a tense episode that unfolded in the Old Trafford locker room during his spell at Manchester United.
"I told him: 'It's been a year and a half now that you've been criticizing me, ever since I arrived.' Mourinho called me 'shit' and I lost my temper: 'You're the shit. A huge shit.'" The exchange escalated, and the Portuguese coach eventually ordered him: "Get out of here, I never want to see you again."
Mkhitaryan also revealed that Mourinho kept pushing him out the door even off the pitch:
"During training, he wouldn't say a word to me, but every night, he'd send me a WhatsApp message: 'Miki, please leave.'"
The former United player systematically replied:
"I'll leave if I find the right club, otherwise I'll wait until summer."
The message then changed:
"Miki, leave so I can sign Alexis Sánchez." To which he retorted: "I'm not leaving just to please you, talk to Mino Raiola."
An electric relationship until the very end.
