Linafoot qualifiers: Congo Eagles strike hard and top the table

Congo Eagles got the job done on Friday, May 29, at the Tata Raphaël Stadium. Facing Celeste FC, the Kinshasa side dominated the match and claimed a 3-1 victory. The Eagles soared to the top of the Linafoot qualifiers standings, at least temporarily, pending the showdown between Vita Club and Mazembe.

It was mission accomplished for the Congo Eagles. In the 28th minute, Jonathan Moboma broke the deadlock. Just four minutes later, Bola Lobota doubled the lead in the 32nd minute, putting the game firmly in their control.
Celeste FC tried to mount a comeback, with Gideon Kasanga pulling one back in the 67th minute to reignite hope for the Celeste fans. But the Eagles kept their composure. In the 87th minute, Esdras Makosi sealed the win with a third goal, ending the contest 3-1.

In terms of the standings, it was a perfect operation. With this victory, Congo Eagles raise their tally to 18 points and remain unbeaten in 8 matches. The team is establishing itself as a strong contender to retain the title. On the other hand, Celeste FC's situation is dire, as they remain bottom of the table with just one point and no wins from 8 rounds.

The classic between TP Mazembe and Vita Club is currently underway (56th minute, score 0-0).
