Manchester City shows interest in Bayern defender

Manchester City is closely monitoring Dayot Upamecano, the Bayern Munich centre-back whose contract expires in the summer of 2026. According to the English press, the Citizens are already exploring the possibility of signing him to bolster their defense for the long term.

Currently, Pep Guardiola relies mainly on Joško Gvardiol and Rúben Dias, but the recurring absences of John Stones and Nathan Aké limit his options. With a packed schedule in the coming weeks, reinforcing the back line is becoming crucial.

Upamecano, 27, has played 172 matches for Bayern and is also attracting interest from clubs like Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. For now, Munich still has the option to extend their defender’s contract, but Manchester City seems ready to make a move as soon as the opportunity arises.
