Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba remains eager to join Manchester United, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

The Cameroon international was the subject of discussions between the two clubs during the summer of 2025, with United believed to have reached a verbal agreement with the player at the time. However, a deal ultimately failed to materialise, and Baleba stayed on the south coast.

Romano reports that the understanding between Baleba and the Old Trafford club has remained intact since those talks, keeping the door open for a potential move in the future. With Casemiro set to leave United as a free agent, the club are expected to sign at least two midfielders — and Baleba remains firmly on their radar.
