Marco Ilaimaharitra set to join Standard Liège

Marco Ilaimaharitra is closing in on an agreement with Standard Liège. The Belgian club, eager to strengthen its midfield, is finalizing the last details of the Malagasy international's transfer, whose contract with KV Kortrijk is about to expire.

Having arrived in Belgium in 2017, Marco Ilaimaharitra shows no signs of tiring of the Pro League, even after eight seasons. He has built a solid reputation in the Belgian top flight, notably as captain at Charleroi, before moving to Kortrijk last January. This summer, the 29-year-old Malagasy midfielder is expected to sign for Les Rouches, who are aiming to reinforce the center of the park with experienced and financially accessible profiles.

Negotiations are nearing completion, and a free-agent signing is becoming increasingly likely. Moreover, he reportedly passed the required medical tests in Liège this Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
