MLS: Lionel Messi in the running for a new trophy

Lionel Messi could soon add another trophy to his collection with Inter Miami.

Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi is once again in contention for an individual award. The former PSG star is among the frontrunners for the "King of America" prize, awarded by the newspaper El País. Messi is competing alongside fellow Argentine Maravilla Martínez and Uruguay's De Arrascaeta.

After lifting the MLS Cup with Inter Miami and securing his spot at the 2026 World Cup, Messi now aims to win this trophy for the very first time. The winner will be revealed on December 31, a date that will also see the announcement of the MLS player, women's player, and coach of the year.
