Nations League: Germany overturns Italy (2-1)
Germany once again proved that they never give up. Trailing at halftime, Die Mannschaft triumphed over Italy (2-1) at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza during the first leg of the Nations League quarter-finals. A victory achieved through tactical adjustments and regained efficiency in the second half.
The Azzurri had started their match ideally. Sandro Tonali took advantage of a German defensive error to open the scoring as early as the 9th minute. More incisive, the Italians could have extended their lead, but Giacomo Raspadori and Moise Kean lacked precision.
Upon returning from the locker room, Julian Nagelsmann made a decisive change. Coming off the bench, Tim Kleindienst equalized with a header in the 48th minute, following a perfect cross from Joshua Kimmich. Dominant, the Germans continued to push and were rewarded in the 76th minute. From a Kimmich corner, Leon Goretzka rose above everyone to secure victory for his team. Italy, now in danger of relegation, must respond decisively in the return match in Germany.
