Nico Williams leaves the door open for a move to England
A blockbuster move to the Premier League may be brewing, with Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams reportedly rethinking his future in Spain — and two clubs from London positioned as possible landing spots.
High probability of Nico Williams moving to England
According to Topskills Sports UK, the Spanish international is giving serious thought to a switch to England and has asked his representative to sound out opportunities in the Premier League. Arsenal and Chelsea are said to be among the sides catching Williams' eye.
Both clubs have previously been mentioned in connection with the winger, but the fresh suggestion that Williams is himself receptive to leaving Spain could shift the picture. As things stand, no formal offer or talks have been confirmed.
Money may well emerge as the biggest stumbling block. Back in 2025, Williams put pen to paper on a long-term deal with Athletic, tying him to the club until 2035. Earlier reports have placed his release clause at around €90 million, with some outlets citing even loftier sums — leaving the Basque side in a commanding position at the negotiating table.
It is also worth remembering that Williams was crowned a European champion with Spain in 2024 and remains one of Athletic Bilbao's most recognisable figures. His reported openness to considering England does not signal that any transfer has been agreed, but it could reignite the contest between Arsenal and Chelsea for his signature.
