Thembinkosi Lorch is close to becoming a free agent!
According to iDiski Times, the 33-year-old winger looks set to become a free agent in the next transfer window, with Lorch and Al-Ittihad reportedly inching toward a mutual parting of ways. Tellingly, the South African has been missing from the Libyan club's recent league squads under head coach Faouzi Benzarti.
A new opportunity and experience
Not long ago, Lorch was in discussions over a switch to reigning Moroccan champions MAS Fes, who had already bolstered their ranks with Tshegofatso Mabasa and Devin Titus. Talks, however, failed to produce agreement on personal terms, leaving the seasoned attacker still in Libya.
Word from Libya also indicates that clubs in Egypt and Algeria have registered interest in the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates star. A return to Wydad AC had been floated previously as well, though the Moroccan giants never tabled a formal offer.
Lorch made the move to Al-Ittihad from Wydad earlier in 2026, shortly before Rulani Mokwena took the reins at the Tripoli club. Mokwena has since departed and now leads Pyramids FC, where he began his tenure with ten straight wins across all competitions.
Worth noting: Lorch turned 33 in July. Transfermarkt's most recent valuation lists the South African winger at €400,000, while National Football Teams records seven league appearances and one goal for Al-Ittihad in the 2025/26 campaign.
