Nora Häuptle unveils Zambia’s final squad for the 2024 Women’s AFCON
Zambia head coach Nora Häuptle officially announced her final squad on Thursday, June 19, 2025, for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations set to take place in Morocco. Among the 24 selected players, star striker and iconic captain Barbra Banda leads the way, alongside several promising young talents.
Since taking charge of the Copper Queens in January, Swiss tactician Nora Häuptle has had time to put her stamp on the team and prepare them for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which was postponed and will now be held in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2025. She has opted for a balanced squad, mixing established leaders with fresh, promising faces.
The 24-player roster features key pillars such as Barbra Banda, recently crowned African Women’s Player of the Year 2024 and the first player to score back-to-back hat-tricks at the Olympic Games; not to mention Rachel Kundananji, a national team regular since 2018.
