OL: The future of Moussa Niakhaté remains uncertain

Olympique Lyonnais appear ready to offload Senegalese defender Moussa Niakhaté this summer.

Signed for over €30 million from Nottingham Forest, Moussa Niakhaté is now firmly on the radar of Italian side Bologna. According to Tutto Mercato Web, the Serie A club is actively looking to bolster its defense in the upcoming transfer window.

Bologna are preparing for a possible departure of Jhon Lucumí, who is attracting strong interest from the Premier League, and have placed Moussa Niakhaté at the top of their shortlist. The Italian outlet also highlights that OL’s precarious financial situation, worsened by their relegation to Ligue 2, could force Les Gones to part ways with their defender at a favorable price.

It’s worth noting that while Moussa Niakhaté was a regular starter, he did not fully convince during his first season in Lyon. The future of Moussa Niakhaté thus remains up in the air, caught between the player’s ambitions and OL’s financial demands.

A quick decision could be made in the coming days.
