OM: "I know I can offer more," Bennacer responds to criticism
Ismaël Bennacer is going through a period of harsh criticism following performances deemed below expectations. Arriving on loan from AC Milan during the winter transfer window, the Algerian midfielder, whose technical skills and Serie A experience were praised, has struggled to fully convince after seven appearances in Ligue 1.
After a sensational arrival at Marseille, where he was welcomed as a star by the fans, Bennacer quickly showed signs of his talent. His early appearances in the Phocaean jersey, notably against Angers and Saint-Étienne in February, impressed with his vision and ability to direct play.
However, the Algerian midfielder's recent performances have raised questions. The local press did not mince words. His lack of passing precision and physical condition deemed insufficient were highlighted. In an exclusive interview with La Provence, the 27-year-old player candidly addressed the critics, acknowledging his shortcomings while asserting his determination to turn things around.
"I've played seven matches. I'm coming back from a long injury, a rather complicated period. It had been a long time since I played 90 minutes (since May 2024 against Salernitana, Editor's Note). Let's not forget that. I'm starting to regain my bearings and sensations over the past few weeks. I know I can offer more, that's clear. I'm working, I'm patient, and I'm not worried about getting back into match rhythm," Ismaël Bennacer said.
Bennacer is determined to prove himself and meet the expectations placed on him. Indeed, rumors suggest a permanent transfer from AC Milan to OM at the end of his loan contract.
