Prince Adu’s performance against England in the 2026 World Cup (0-0) has reignited a surprising story from the early days of his European adventure. The Ghanaian striker, who came on in the second half, had already crossed paths with Polish football once before—without success.

Arkadiusz Szczęsny, manager of Jagiellonia Białystok, recalled that five years ago, Adu was invited for a trial at the club. But his arrival turned into a fiasco, ultimately preventing any signing at the time:

He never made it to training properly. He had the wrong address and ended up in a different city. We had to guide him so he could figure out where to go.

After that episode, Prince Adu continued his European journey with stints in Belarus, Ukraine, and then the Czech Republic, where he made his mark with Viktoria Plzeň. From being rejected at a Polish trial to representing Ghana at the World Cup, his journey perfectly illustrates the unpredictable paths of modern football.
