Ousmane Dembélé failed to impress in Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1 opener on Sunday. In addition to taking him off, Luis Enrique sent a clear message.

On Sunday, the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner delivered a lackluster performance. Ousmane Dembélé was subbed off at halftime by Luis Enrique during the 2-2 draw between Paris Saint-Germain and Rennes in the closing match of the first round of Ligue 1. His replacement, Ferran Torres, scored a brace to salvage a point for the European champions.

Speaking to Ligue 1+, Luis Enrique was keen to issue a warning to his striker. "Subbing off the Ballon d'Or winner at halftime? That's football. If you dwell on everything you've already won, you're not going to win anything moving forward. For me, the most important thing is that there's no credit. You have to prove yourself every day, every match, every training session, that you're ready. Otherwise, it's easy, you just relax. No, that's not how I operate. We're here to win all the time and to do that, you have to get out of your comfort zone." declared the former FC Barcelona manager.
