According to reliable media sources, the board of directors at Al Ahly, led by Mahmoud Khatib, has made a firm decision regarding the contract extension of defender Rami Rabia.

Latest twists in Rami Rabia's contract extension saga

A source close to the club told "Btolat" that president Khatib personally stepped in on this matter and refused to make a new offer to the player.

The source specified that Khatib decided to stick to the last proposal submitted, which offers a two-year extension for a total of EGP 56 million.

It was added that if Rabia wants to continue his journey with Al Ahly, he will have to accept and sign this offer. Otherwise, he will leave the club at the end of the season.

The club had previously offered the experienced defender an extension, but he rejected it, demanding a salary increase. In fact, he is asking for EGP 40 million for the first season and EGP 45 million for the second. Negotiations between both parties are ongoing at a brisk pace.

For the record, Rami Rabia joined Al Ahly’s youth academy in 2003 before breaking into the first team in 2010 under the guidance of Abdelaziz Abdelshafy. Since then, he has played 337 matches for the club, scoring 18 goals and providing 8 assists—an impressive record for a defender.
