RC Lens: Goduine Koyalipou relieved to end his long drought
Scoring against AS Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1, Central African forward Goduine Koyalipou couldn't hide his satisfaction in delivering victory for RC Lens and his deep relief. He ended a goalless streak that had lasted since January 2025.
Goduine Koyalipou and Racing Club de Lens were all smiles this Sunday, April 6, 2025, as they secured a 1-0 win over AS Saint-Étienne in the 28th round of Ligue 1. Coming on in the 75th minute, the Central African proved decisive by converting a precise cross from Deiver Machado. He netted the only goal of the match, allowing the Blood and Gold to snatch three crucial points needed to stay in the top 10 of the standings.
Since his arrival at RC Lens in January 2025 from CSKA Sofia, where he shone with 14 goals in 16 appearances, Goduine Koyalipou was expected to invigorate the Lens attack. However, his adaptation to Ligue 1 proved more challenging than anticipated. He currently has only two goals in nine appearances for the Lensois. This return to scoring is thus a breath of fresh air.
“It's a pride. It's my first goal at home, I had been waiting for it for a very long time. Could it be a turning point? Of course! I am a believer, I have faith in God and in my work. I work hard, I knew I was going to score at some point. It's a relief. The goal is to keep scoring,” confided Goduine Koyalipou after the match.
