Real Madrid quickly put out the fire. After reports surfaced suggesting a possible internal shake-up with the arrival of a sporting director, the Madrid club moved swiftly to officially clarify its stance.

In a firm statement, the Merengue management categorically denied the rumors:

"Real Madrid C. F. would like to clarify that the information broadcast last night on the ‘El Larguero’ show on Cadena Ser, claiming that our club is considering appointing a sporting director to its organizational structure, is completely false. Real Madrid greatly values the work carried out by the club’s sporting management, which has allowed us to experience one of the most successful periods in our entire history, winning numerous titles including 6 European Cups in ten years."
