Real Madrid will be without young defender Raúl Asencio for today's league meeting with Elche after a late fitness concern ruled him out of the matchday squad.

According to journalist Sergio Quirante, the centre-back reported muscle discomfort in his leg on the eve of the fixture, prompting Álvaro Arbeloa's staff to err on the side of caution. Rather than risk aggravating the issue, the decision was made to keep him out of the home clash entirely.

The move appears driven by a longer view. With a decisive Champions League tie just days away, Madrid are keen to have Asencio fully recovered and available for midweek. The absence adds to growing concerns in defence, with Ferland Mendy also sidelined and options increasingly limited at the back
