Vinicius Junior lit up the Madrid derby well beyond his on-field performance. Scoring twice in Real Madrid’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Atlético, the Brazilian winger also took the opportunity to respond to a stinging remark that had clearly stuck with him.

Back in January, Diego Simeone had declared:

"Florentino is going to sell you, remember what I’m telling you."

A statement the Madrid star clearly hadn’t forgotten. On Sunday, as he was leaving the pitch, Vinicius responded with a touch of irony:

"They’re going to sell me, they’re going to sell me!"

flashing a telling smile.

Soon after, Vinicius hammered his point home on social media:

"There’s only one Madrid!"

A clear message that underlines his loyalty to the club while fueling the rivalry with the Argentine coach.
