Real Madrid: Xabi Alonso slams the referee after defeat to Celta Vigo

After Sunday night's defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu against Celta Vigo, Xabi Alonso found an excuse: the refereeing.

On Sunday, Real Madrid fell to Celta Vigo (0-2) in La Liga. During the match, Los Blancos lost their composure following the dismissals of Fran Garcia and Alvaro Carreras, as well as Endrick, who wasn't even on the pitch. In the post-match press conference, Xabi Alonso took aim at the officiating.

"I didn't like the referee's performance; his decisions unsettled the team. He didn't account for time-wasting, they broke up the tempo, and he was far too lenient. I don't know about the card given to Carreras, it's highly questionable. I didn't like his performance, we were frustrated. It took us out of the game at that point. I didn't like the officiating," said the Spanish coach.

Second in the standings, Real Madrid are now 4 points behind leaders FC Barcelona.
