Real Oviedo secures the signing of Spanish-Moroccan Ilyas Chaira

Ilyas Chaira officially joined Real Oviedo on Thursday, July 10, 2025. After spending last season on loan from Girona, the Spanish-Moroccan winger has signed a contract with the Spanish club that runs until June 2028.

This move comes after a remarkable 2024/2025 campaign for the 24-year-old, who played a pivotal role in Real Oviedo's historic promotion to Spain's top flight. Born in Ripoll, Chaira convinced the Asturian management to bet on him for the club’s future, having become a key figure in Veljko Paunović’s system. He featured in 35 matches, scoring eight goals and providing three assists.

"With his permanent signing, Real Oviedo strengthens its left flank with a proven, rapidly developing player who already understands the demands of Carlos Tartiere. Ilyas Chaira thus cements his status as a key player in the club’s project to reclaim a place among the Spanish football elite," wrote Real Oviedo.
