On Friday, March 28, 2025, Stade Rennais officially announced the contract extension of Alidu Seidu until June 2029. This unexpected news demonstrates the French club's confidence in the Ghanaian defender, despite his current injury.

Joining from Clermont Foot in January 2024, Alidu Seidu has successfully established himself as a key figure in Rennes' defense. Highly versatile, he has adapted to various roles, whether as a right-back, left-back, or central defender. Before his injury in November 2024, the 24-year-old Ghanaian had played 26 matches in the red and black colors, including 11 this season in Ligue 1 of France.

“In the process of rehabilitation after an injury in November, the Ghanaian international received a strong vote of confidence from the Rennes management with a one-year contract extension. Alidu is now committed until 2029 with Stade Rennais F.C.,” announced the club.

Suffering from a torn ACL in his left knee during a match against Lille on November 24, 2024, Alidu Seidu was forced to prematurely end his season. Since then, he has been following a rehabilitation program with determination.

“Alidu is a very reliable, strong player whom we miss greatly on the field. He is a robust defender with great qualities and an exceptional mindset. Seeing him extend his contract makes us very happy; he will continue to contribute significantly to Stade Rennais F.C.,” said Frederic Massara, Rennes FC's Sporting Director.
